Ranchi: Two persons who were shot during the violence in Ranchi on Friday died during treatment today i.e. Saturday. According to the information received, one of the deceased has been identified as Mudassir alias Kaifi. And it is being told that the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has confirmed the death of two people and now eight injured people are undergoing treatment. People took to the streets on Friday after Nupur Sharma's objectionable remarks about Prophet Mohammad. In fact, in the main road area here, people of the Muslim community took out a procession and shouted slogans against Nupur Sharma. The effigy was also burnt here and after that, the demonstration turned violent.

After the protests in Ranchi were raging, the police resorted to lathi-charge and aerial firing to disperse the crowd. The mob also pelted stones and many policemen were injured in it. Many police personnel were injured in the stone-pelting. However, the police managed to control the crowd. After the protest turned violent, the administration had first imposed a curfew in some areas of Ranchi city, which has been imposed in the entire city later. After the curfew, some people recited Hanuman Chalisa at places of violence.

The situation in Ranchi remains calm but tense. The administration is making an announcement to the Speaker urging people not to step out of their houses. In fact, according to the administration, if they do so, they can be taken into custody. The internet has been shut down in the city to curb rumours. There have been no reports of violence in the city since yesterday's incident.

In such a situation, many organizations have announced a strike today, but due to the imposition of Section 144, the strike is ineffective. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has appealed to the people to refrain from participating in any such activity. In fact, he said, "I suddenly came to know about this worrisome (protest) incident. The people of Jharkhand have always been very sensitive and tolerant. There's no need to panic. I appeal to all to refrain from taking part in any such activity which may lead to more such offences.''
