Srinagar: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has arrived in Jammu. He will tour here and visit Maa Vaishno Devi. However, as soon as he reached Jammu, the political mercury has risen over his visit. The Congress has also retaliated immediately when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attacked Rahul Gandhi over his visit to Maa Vaishno Devi. The BJP slammed Rahul Gandhi's plan to visit mother Vaishno Devi only as a 'token Hindutva.'

Reacting sharply, Congress national spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, 'if Rahul Gandhi wants to walk 13 kilometers to Vaishno Devi, why should the BJP object?  Modi Ji also goes with Rahul Ji, he (PM) is elderly, he will also take his hand. He will carry Modi Ji on his shoulder if needed.' However, Rahul Gandhi, who arrived in Jammu, said, 'I have come here to visit Mata Vaishno Devi.' At the same time, he categorically refused to make any political statement.

Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad Rahul Gandhi will visit Mata Vaishno Devi today and also participate in the special aarti to be held there in the evening. Congress workers welcomed Rahul Gandhi on his arrival in Jammu. The women of Jammu also raised the slogan of 'Rahul Gandhi Go Ahead, We are with you.'
