Rani Mukerji had impressed the audience with her lively performance in the first part of Mardaani. She played the role of a daredevil Senior Inspector of the CBI, Shivani Shivaji Roy and battled all the odds that came her way. A while back, it was announced that YRF is making the sequel of this hit film. Mardaani 2 will be directed by Gopi Puthran who was the writer of the first film. Rumours are rife that Aditya Chopra is set to launch a new face as the merciless villain in Mardaani 2.
Sources revealed that The first film proved a breakthrough for Tahir Raj Bhasin who featured in a negative role. This time, Rani had to battle it out with a 21-year-old actor whose identity is not yet revealed. In Mardaani 2, she will be shown as a Superintendent of Police. Though the story of Mardaani 2 has been kept under wraps, sources have some great information about this very exciting casting. “The makers have zeroed in on a young boy who will take on Rani in this much awaited sequel. It will be a debut for this boy and everyone is telling us that he is a performer to watch out for. If Adi has chosen him to be pitted against a powerful performer like Rani, one can imagine that he is a talent to watch out for. The role requires a menacing, blood-chilling performance and we are excited to find out who this young boy is.”

Right since its release, everyone has asked me time and again when I would be doing Mardaani 2 and I’m sure this announcement will come as a pleasant surprise to them all. Gopi has written an extraordinary script that we all love and I can’t wait to start shooting this film soon,”
Produced by Aditya Chopra, this will be Rani’s next release after Hichki which was highly acclaimed by the audiences and critics. The movie will hit the screens in the latter half of 2019.
