Hindi cinema's veteran Rani Murkhji's film has been stuck in controversies before the release. In fact, Taslim Ahmed, who lives in Kota, has filed a petition in the Rajasthan High Court against the release of Mardaani 2 and demanded that the film be stopped from being released. She has said in the petition that Kota city is being shown as an unsafe place for women while Kota is a safe place. This can spoil the image of Kota. There is a lot of opposition on social media too for the release of the film.

The 2014 film Mardaani was well received by the audience, after which once again Aditya Chopra has come back to make a splash with Rani Mukherji, but before this time this film has been caught in controversies. The film was scheduled to release on December 13, although no such information has been revealed about the film so far.
