GURUGRAM: The Gurugram police have detained a nineteen-year-old college student for allegedly blackmailing and sexually assaulting a minor girl, a class XI student of a private school in Gurugram city, the police said.

The sixteen-year-old girl knew the accused because they attended the same school, the complainant and the girl's father told the police.

The girl's father said,  his daughter had become friends with the accused.

"They spoke frequently, and in 2021, the accused graduated from high school and enrolled in a college in Delhi. The suspect also began stalking my daughter." The father said that the accused downloaded a nude photo of his daughter through WhatsApp during a mobile discussion. He (the accused) then began extorting her and forcing her to meet with him.

The girl's father described the incident in his police report: "During a meeting, the suspect sexually and physically abused her and, when she resisted, he threatened to kill her."

Following the complaint, a FIR was filed at the women's police station in West against the accused under Sections 323 (causing hurt), 354-D (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation), and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

"The culprit was taken into custody. More investigation is being done, "a policeman stated.
