Patna: After the announcement of assembly election dates in Assam, all political parties have put their gear up. In the same sequence, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav announced that his party will enter the upcoming assembly elections in Assam by tying up with 'like-minded' parties.
Tejashwi Yadav said during his first visit to Guwahati that he had already spoken to Congress and would later negotiate with the AIUDF to formalize the alliance. On the question of RJD's role in Assam assembly elections, Tejashwi Yadav said that we are a political party and want to expand in Assam and other states. There will be a discussion on how many seats to fight. He told the press that, "We are talking to parties with similar views." Tejashwi Yadav said that apart from Congress and AIUDF, RJD is also in touch with other smaller parties.
He further added that 'About five percent of Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh are Hindi speaking people. We have enough number of such people in 11 seats, but we will fight only where there is more chance of winning.' The RJD veteran also said that he would also visit other contested states West Bengal, Kerala, and Puducherry to campaign against the BJP and its allies.
