RAT falls by 50% but PCR increased last week in Mysuru: COVID-19 test

The number of Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) counts nearly 3,000 per day last week is dropped to 1,404 tests per day between October 14 and 19 almost 50% less. The statistics provided by the COVID-19 War Room, Bengaluru says increase in the average number of RT-PCR tests. The average PCR tests between October 7 and 14 were 2,241 a day which crosses 3000 this week. Due to Dasara celebrations, the increase in the number is seen as PCR test results were made mandatory for the participants of Dasara last week inaugural.

As per the advice from the COVID-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), the authorities asked the participants who has permission to attend to the PCR method of testing 48 hours before the inaugural event. The PCR method tests were believed of confirmatory in nature. RT-PCR negative report, test done after October 14 was made mandatory for COVID-19 safety protocol at the Dasara venues. The  officials, staff, security personnel, media persons, artists and others were compulsory tested.

Ahead of the finale this weekend, the PCR tests may go up again  with the participants old and new, have to provide the reports. The mobile testing booths in the festive localities, will increase RATs number. Free mass testing in industries/factories has been arranged. The RAT testing achieved its 200% target between October 7 and 13 but is 100% last week besides more number of testing centers people are not testing themselves, not using the testing facilities as the number of cases were reduced last week.
