New Delhi: The inflation rate in Delhi was the lowest among the five metro cities in 2020-21, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said. Sisodia asserted that the Kejriwal government kept prices in Delhi under control even during COVID-19. He claims that living in Delhi is more affordable than in other cities, and that food prices in the city are the "lowest" in the country.

Sisodia went on to say that the average annual inflation rate based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) in 2020-21 was only 3 percent in Delhi, compared to 5 percent nationally, when releasing the annual price index report issued by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics.

Sisodia also said the Kejriwal government "efficiently managed" to keep inflation under control in Delhi even during COVID-19, and it had the lowest rate of inflation among the five metro cities.

"Inflation in Delhi increased by 3.0 percent in 2020-21, whereas it increased by 4.6 percent in Kolkata, 4.4 percent in Chennai, 4.1 percent in Mumbai, and 4 percent in Bengaluru," he said, adding that the Kejriwal government is committed to the common man and will always stand by him. "Due to the Kejriwal government's quick actions, commodity prices in Delhi remained constant and did not rise much during COVID-19. The deputy chief minister stated, "The administration is continually monitoring the cost of critical items." The national inflation rate for food prices was 5.7 percent, but it was only 4.1 percent in Delhi, the country's lowest.
