Rati Agnihotri is one of the renowned actresses in Bollywood and south industry. The actress was one of the highest paid actresses of her time. well-known name in Hindi cinema. Rati was born on 10 December 1960 in a Punjabi family in Mumbai. Rati's sister is Anita Agnihotri, who is a former Miss India. Rati had entered the world of modeling at the age of just 10 years.

Rati was introduced to the film industry by famous director Bharti Raja. He was looking for a heroine for his new film. Bharti Raja saw her acting in a school play. He immediately met Rati's father and promised to make the film within a month. At the age of 16, Rati worked in her first film in 1979 in 'Pudiya Varpukal'.
This film proved to be a blockbuster. Rati had said that she born into a Punjabi family by mistake. She is a Tamil by heart. After her first film she became a star overnight. She did about 32 Kannada and Telugu films within three years. She also worked with big Tamil stars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Shobhan Babu, Chiranjeevi and Nageswara Rao.

The actress made her Bollywood debut with Kamal Haasan in the 1981 with Ek Duje Ke Liye. Rati's father had passed away before her marriage. She got married to Anil Virwani. She quit acting after her first film. In 1987, Rati and Anil had a son, Tanuj. After this she became completely busy with the responsibilities of her family. Rati stayed away from Limelight till 30 years of marriage.
After 30 years of her marriage, she reached police station. She accused her husband Anil Virwani of torturing, beating and threatening to kill her. She also filed a complaint against her husband. Rati told that for the last 30 years she has been facing harassment from her husband. Rati said that I had to take this step one day or the other. I remained silent because son Tanuj. She said that she wanted to keep Tanuj away from these fights.
On the career front, Rati has featured in films like Mashal', 'Tawaif', 'Coolie', 'Aap Saath', 'Mera Faisal', 'Krishna Cottage', 'Kranti', 'Tumse Achcha Kaun Hai', 'Na Tum Jaano Na Hum', 'Jaljala', Films like 'Albela', 'Itihaas', 'Rishta' are included.
