Tokyo Olympics silver medallist wrestler Ravi Dahiya has started the Indian leg of the Queen's Baton Relay for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games with a symbolic race in the capital on Wednesday. The Queens Baton came here on Monday. It has been led by Rakesh Gupta, Joint Secretary, IOA and Chairman, Queens Torch Relay Committee at Indira Gandhi Airport. The torch is scheduled to leave for Singapore on January 16.

Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Narinder Batra said in a statement: "The Queen's Torch of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games reached Delhi on January 10, 2022, and Was brought by Hamid, Director General, Bangladesh Olympic Association from Bangladesh. Ravi Dahiya has further said, "It is beginning to feel great to be a part of the baton relay. My preparations for the Commonwealth Games have progressed very well. I am confident of winning a gold medal in Birmingham."

The Birmingham Commonwealth Games are scheduled to take place between July 28 and August 8. Indian Olympic Association President Narinder Batra and General Secretary Rajiv Mehta and other officials have participated in the Queen's Baton Relay. British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis was also present on the occasion. The Queens Baton Relay is now scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on January 14 and Bhubaneswar on January 15.
