Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad attacked Congress and accused the former ruling party of worsening Indian Banks’ debt-crisis. He was speaking at a press conference in New Delhi.

He also slammed former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for the flaws in the Indian Banking System, saying it all happened during his tenure as the PM.

“Under the so-called economist Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the entire banking system went haywire due to all kinds of interference with it,” said Prasad at the press conference.

Congress has been protesting the digitization schemes by the ruling NDA government. Attacking the Rahul Gandhi led party on the same he said, “Congress party has issues with technology since technology brings transparency,” said Prasad.

Prasad claimed that the UPA government had manipulated the data in the bank records several times. He said that NDA government has not given a single loan that is a non-performing asset (NPA).

“Time & again we have stated that not a single loan given under our govt is NPA. In 2008, the total advance to people given by the banks was Rs 18.06 Lakh Crores. By March '14 amount went up to Rs 52.15 Lakh Crores. The stressed asset identified out of this was only 36%,” said Prasad.

He further stated that the stressed asset has risen to 82% at present which confirms the manipulation done in the bank records during the UPA regime.

Further, he slammed at Congress for the Bofors scam and is accusing BJP of a scam in Rafale deal which it couldn’t execute for ten years.

“Rafale deal is in discussion these days. It is very surprising that Congress party which is drowned in corruption in Bofors among other purchases of a weapons system, is raising questions on Rafale deal. It couldn't execute Rafale deal for 10 years,” he said.

Speaking on the north-east election verdict, he said, “BJP expected that Congress has a stronghold in the northeastern state but the results revealed the opposite.” Further, hailing BJP’s victory he said, “BJP won in 12 out of the 20 seats it contested for, getting 15% votes in the Christian majority state.”
