New Delhi: Indian team's star of spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin has set a big record against South Africa on the last day of the first Test match being played in Visakhapatnam. Ravichandran Ashwin has equalled the record of Sri Lankan veteran bowler Muttiah Muralitharan in terms of taking the fastest 350 Test wickets by dismissing Theunis de Bruyn in the second innings of South Africa.

At the same time, Ashwin has become the fastest Indian bowler to take 350 Test wickets. Ashwin has done 350 wickets in the 66th match of his Test career. Now Ashwin has become the fastest bowler to take 350 Test wickets jointly with Sri Lankan spinner Muralitharan. Muralitharan also completed 350 Test wickets in his 66th Test match against Bangladesh in 2001.  Muralitharan is the only bowler in the world to touch 800 wickets.

After being ruled out for five consecutive Tests, the 33-year-old Ashwin took full advantage of the opportunity and took 7 wickets in the first innings against South Africa. Ashwin sent Aiden Markerum, Thunis de Bruyn, Faf du Plessis, Quinton de Cock, Vernon Philander, Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada to the pavilion. After this, Ashwin has taken one wicket in the second innings so far.
