Kanpur: India's star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin created history on the third day of the ongoing Test match in Kanpur on Saturday. Ravichandran Ashwin took his 415th wicket in Test cricket and has surpassed Pakistan legend Wasim Akram in this regard. Ashwin now has a total of 416 wickets in Tests.
The big thing is that Ashwin has done it in just the 80th Test. Ravichandran Ashwin has now moved up to 14th position in terms of most wickets in Test cricket. Ashwin is now just two wickets away from legendary Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh's record of 417 wickets. While Wasim Akram took 414 wickets in 104 Tests, Ashwin took only 80 matches to reach the milestone.
With this Ashwin has set another brilliant record. He has also topped the line in terms of most Test wickets in 2021. Ravichandran Ashwin has taken 40 wickets in 2021, while Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi has 39 wickets this year. When it comes to active players, Ashwin comes in at No.3 in terms of most wickets. Right now only James Anderson, Stuart Broad are the only players who are playing at the moment and have too many wickets in Tests. Ravichandran Ashwin's number comes after them.
