New Delhi: The RBI is going to issue new notes worth Rs 100. It will be a varnish note. Initially, these will be released on a trial basis. The main feature of this note is that it will not burst quickly, which means its lifespan will be longer than the rest of the notes. There will be a bright and transparent layer mounted on the Rs 100 varnish notes. This will not only avoid the burst of notes but also make it harder to get dirty. However, the cost of varnish notes will go up.

Every year, the Reserve Bank has to replace the dirty or mutilated notes worth lakhs of crores of rupees. So, soon, Rs 100 varnish notes will be introduced in the market. India is not the first country to use varnish notes. At present, varnish notes are used in many countries of the world. Now, the Reserve Bank of India has also decided to try it out in the country.

Plastic notes are also used in countries to protect them from dirt. Just as our homes have a shiny and transparent layer on wooden furniture, these notes will also have a thin layer that will allow the notes to last longer. After printing the note, it will be varnished. The intention of the Government is to make the note sustainable.
