PATNA: Union Steel Minister R.C.P. Singh criticised his own party's parliamentary board president Upendra Kushwaha on Tuesday after Kushwaha claimed Singh should resign from the cabinet because the party had refused him a Rajya Sabha ticket.

R.C.P. Singh was in Gaya for a special programme commemorating World Yoga Day. When approached by the media to comment on Upendra Kushwaha's statement, Singh replied with folded hands: "Whose name are you (media people) adopting? This is where Bhagwan Budha resides. Take his name for example." Singh took part in a yoga session held on the grounds of the Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya.

When asked about the fact that he had fewer followers with him, he responded that it was not an event organised by his party. "You will see a significant number of people with me when events relevant to party organisation are held," he remarked.

Singh's term as a Rajya Sabha MP will come to an end on July 7 after he was denied a ticket. On June 14, Upendra Kushwaha remarked that R.C.P. Singh should resign as a minister on moral grounds before the end of his Rajya Sabha term.
