"Ready to do anything to be part of T20 World Cup squad": Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer stated that he is just looking to improve himself for a spot in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup this year. After a long absence due to injuries, Iyer will return to professional cricket in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL).

"It's a great opportunity, especially after coming back from an injury to play in the IPL. After that the World Cup. These are the two biggest tournaments for an Indian cricketer to play at. We have always dreamed of being part of such an amazing time," Iyer told Sports Today.

Iyer has been out of action since March 23, when he suffered a partial fracture of his left shoulder while playing ODIs at home against England. "All these moments... the last four months. It has basically fuelled and propelled my mindset to keep working harder and smarter. No rest days for me at this point in time. Really looking forward to the matches which I am going to play right now," he said.

In Iyer's absence, the likes of Suryakumar Yadav have impressed T20 internationals in the middle order. However, Iyer said that he is only trying to look at how he can get better as a player instead of comparing himself with what those competing for his spot are doing.
