The country's number one shuttler Kidambi Srikanth's way to play in the World Championships in Spain has finally been cleared. He has also issued a visa on behalf of the Spanish Embassy at the last minute under pressure from the organizers. Srikanth has also reached Spain and his RT PCR report has also been found negative.
World No.14 Srikanth did not have a Visa to Spain. After the world tour finals in Indonesia, shuttlers like PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty left for Spain directly, while Srikanth had to leave for India for a visa. But he could not get a visa till 4 days before the championship began.
After which the organizers put tremendous pressure on the embassy, they were given visas. Srikanth was sent to Spain within 3 hours of his visa. However, his physio Shivalenka and Indonesian coach Dwi Cristivan could not reach Spain. Doubles coach Arun Vishnu was sent in place of Cristyavan.
