New Delhi: Amid the ongoing uproar over the Modi government's 'Agneepath Scheme', Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has announced the early start of the recruitment process in the Army. Along with this, he has also urged the youth to prepare for recruitment. Ever since the announcement of the government and the army, violent protests against the scheme have been taking place in several states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand.
Although the government had increased the age limit by two years, it had ruled out the possibility of a withdrawal of the policy. There is a demand from the protesters to implement the old policy. Union Defence Minister Singh said the 'Agniveer Yojana' will provide a big opportunity to the youth. In the last two years, due to Corona, the youth could not get a chance to get recruitment, that is why on the order of PM Modi, the government has given a relaxation in the age limit of two years. "I want to say that the recruitment process is going to start in a short time. All youngsters are urged to prepare for it and take full advantage of it. '
The central government has kept the age limit for new recruits in the army between 17 and a half years to 21 years. According to a statement issued by the Defence Ministry on Thursday, as recruitment is not possible in the last two years, the government has decided to give a one-time exemption for the proposed recruitment in 2022. With this, the age of recruitment under the Agneepath scheme for the year 2022 has been increased to 23 years.
