The upcoming LGBT romantic comedy film Red, White, and Royal Blue has piqued the interest of not only rom-com fans but also the literary world. The film, starring Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine, is based on Casey McQuiston's 2019 New York Times bestselling novel of the same name.

Red, White, and Royal Blue is based on the lives and love story of Alex Claremont-Diaz, the president's son, and Henry, the prince of Britain. Perez says, "The core of Alex [from the book] is still in the film. He's just so ambitious, loyal, charismatic, and smart." He also add, "He feels the weight of the high expectations placed on him due to his position, and he struggles with feelings of inadequacy." Meanwhile, Galitzine says, "When I read the script, I thought it was a very interesting, very topical character. Henry felt like an emotional, sensitive, guarded person, and I find people like that very interesting to play." 

He added that the actress is such a strong and giving scene partner that she challenged him, made him listen, and force him to be present. According to the film's summary, a public argument between Alex and Henry causes their families to force them into a fake truce, which leads to sparks flying between them. The two characters and their journey from a long-running quarrel to bantering and then falling in love. However, when the two individuals in love are the first son of the United States and the prince of the United Kingdom, things are not as simple.

The actor has already been in a number of films and television shows, his most well-known role being Marco Valentin Pea in Netflix's teen rom-com film trilogy The Kissing Booth. Perez appeared in the second and third movie and garnered a lot of praise for his performance. The film was shot in the United Kingdom from June to August 2022 and was written and directed by Tony Award-winning playwright Matthew López. The film was executive produced by McQuiston, the author. Red, White, and Royal Blue will be available on Amazon Prime on August 11, 2023.
