Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi sayd that Redmi Y2 is to get the Android 9 Pie based MIUI update. Xiaomi has come with a clarification after a recent post which was made on Xiaomi's China forum.
In an official post made on Xiaomi's India forum, the company stated that the Redmi Y2 will get the Android Pie update. Although, Xiaomi did not reveal any time frame on as when Redmi Y2 users will be getting the Pie update.
The post on Xiaomi India forum reads, While there are some speculations going on about the Android 9 Pie availability on Redmi Y2, do note that Redmi Y2 will get Android 9 Pie in the future for sure and hence it doesn't affect the schedule of the MIUI Stable ROM release including Android base upgrade and software support,”
Talking about specifications, Xiaomi Redmi Y2 comes with a metal back and glass front. It measures 160.73x77.26x8.1mm and weighs 170 grams. It sports a 5.99-inch HD+ (720 x 1440 pixels) full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC with Adreno 506 GPU. It includes 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage (supports expandable storage up to 256GB via microSD card). Talking about camera, there is a dual rear setup- 12-megapixel primary lens + 5-megapixel secondary lens. The AI-enabled rear cameras come with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25-micron pixel size, Beautify 4.0, AI portrait mode and EIS for video recording. The selfie camera is a 16-megapixel lens with selfie light.
