Greek authorities say scores of refugees and migrants are returning to a waterlogged tent city on the country’s northern border with Macedonia, a day after over a thousand people made a mass crossing at an unguarded section of the border.

The others returned to a camp at the Idomeni crossing, where some 14,000 people have been stuck in dire conditions for more than two weeks, hoping Macedonia will allow them to continue north to Europe’s prosperous heartland.

Police say fewer than 30 people were left on Tuesday on the Greek side of the poorly marked border near the village of Hamilo, out of about 200 who had camped overnight.
