New Delhi: Reliance Industries chairman and country's richest industrialist Mukesh Ambani has said on Friday that immediate policy measures are needed to pull out of 2G services. He said that these services started 25 years ago and now there is a need to make it a 'part of history'.

On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the first mobile phone call in the country, Mukesh Ambani said that due to the feature phones of the 2G round, at present, about 30 crore consumers are away from basic Internet services, while the country and many other countries are entering the 5G era. Reliance Chairman said that 2G now needs to take necessary steps to make it a part of history. Earlier, Ambani had announced that Reliance Industries' telecom arm Jio would try to make India free from 2G by offering cheaper smartphones instead of feature phones.
