Lucknow: Maulanas arrested in a conversion racket in Noida, UP, have revealed several secrets in interrogation. Police has arrested the Maulanas of the Islamic Claim Centre and have admitted that they lured people into Islam. An investigation by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) also revealed that they used to convert and send some children abroad.

In the conversion racket case, ATS arrested Mohammad Omar Gautam and Maulana Mufti Qazi Jahangir Qasmi. Omar Gautam had also opened an office called the Islamic Dawa Centre (IDC) in Jamia Nagar, Delhi, where the whole game of conversion was played. According to reports, when the ATS questioned the converts Omar Gautam and Jahangir Qasmi over their remand, they confessed to the conversion by inducement. He also admitted that more than 122 people were converted to Muslim in UP alone, while more than 400 people were identified who were being prepared to convert.

UP Principal Secretary Avnish Awasthi said intelligence is preparing reports of 122 people who have been converted to Muslim and are scanning their details. He also said that ATS has learnt about conversion of more than 1,000 people. Information is also being shared with police in other states and their assistance is also being sought. He also said that the investigation has also found strong evidence of foreign funding.
