Prayagraj: The Allahabad high court's order to remove encroachments in Sangamnagari Prayagraj has already started implementation. Several illegal structures including mosques, Mazar, temples built in Chandrashekhar Azad Park were demolished by the administration. According to reports, the mosque, 14 tombs and three Mazars, as well as three small temples, canteen sites and teen sheds located within Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Park have been removed following the high court's tough stand. The operation continued till late in the night (Saturday). Debris has been removed from here and plants have been planted.
The High Court had ordered the removal of illegal constructions that took place after 1975 at Chandrashekhar Azad Park in Prayagraj. The court had expressed dissatisfaction with the government's report on its activities and made sharp remarks. In July this year, a petition was filed in the Allahabad High Court on behalf of Jitendra Singh seeking removal of religious encroachments from the famous Chandrashekhar Azad Park in Prayagraj district. Hearing the case, the High Court had issued notices to all respondents, including the Sunni Central Wakf Board and the state government.
The Allahabad High Court had said that a similar order was passed in 1987 over illegal encroachments. The court questioned why the order was not implemented. Well, now the administration has demolished all illegal constructions built in the park since 1975.
