Gopal Krishna Gokhale, born on (9 May 1866 died on 19 February 1915, was an Indian politician, freedom fighter, and social reformer. Gokhale was born in, Kotluk, Maharashtra, India. He graduated from Elphinstone College in 1884. The strength of his intellect allowed him to become a teacher at the New English School, Pune, where he taught the English language. Also, he took over as principal of Fergusson College, which he had founded.

Gopal Krishna Gokhale  played an important role in the Indian independence movement. He was born in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, and began his career as a school teacher before becoming involved in political and social activism.

Gokhale was a prominent member of the Indian National Congress and was known for his moderate political views. He believed in the need for gradual and peaceful reform rather than radical change, and he worked tirelessly to promote education and social reform in India.

Gokhale was a strong advocate for Indian self-rule, but he also believed that Indians needed to be better educated and more politically aware in order to govern themselves effectively. He pushed for greater access to education for Indians of all castes and backgrounds and was instrumental in the establishment of the Servants of India Society, a group dedicated to promoting social service and civic responsibility among Indians.

Despite his moderate views, Gokhale was a vocal critic of British rule in India and was a key figure in the Indian independence movement. He worked closely with other nationalist leaders, including Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Lala Lajpat Rai, to demand greater political rights for Indians and to push for Indian independence.

Gokhale's legacy is still celebrated in India today, and he is remembered as a pioneer of Indian nationalism and a champion of social reform and education.
