Sathamangalam Ranga Iyengar Srinivasa Varadhan or commonly known as S.R. Srinivasa Varadhan is one of the most eminent academicians and mathematicians that India has ever seen. 

He is an inspiration to everyone and has demonstrated that it does not take long for a person's aspirations to become a reality if they are supported by the necessary amount of hard effort and conviction. The mathematician is still inspiring many children and adults throughout the world while living in America today.

Varadhan was born January 2, 1940 in Chennai, India. He received his B.Sc. honours degree in 1959 and his M.A. the following year, both from Madras University.

After completing his studies at the Presidency College in Madras, he continued on to the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata to pursue his love of statistics. Because he had no idea what life could bring him, he was constantly inspired to pursue his goals.
Between 1956 to 1963, he was one of the most recognisable figures at the Indian Statistical Institute.  At the Indian Statistical Institute, he earned his Ph.D. in 1963 under the capable instruction of C R Rao. He travelled abroad to offer his career a bright future, and he has worked with many universities throughout the world.

Since 1963, S.R. Srinivasa Varadhan has been employed with the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. He began as a post-doctoral student at the institute, which is connected to New York University. He was one of Daniel Stroock's favourite students, and the renowned mathematician frequently mentioned Varadhan in both his talks and writings. On some of Daniel Stroock's works, he also collaborated with him. 

S.R. Srinivasa Varadhanhas made many significnat contributions to the discipline of mathematics, and the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences is home to many of his works that are priceless. He becomes one of the role models for all the aspiring scientists and mathematicians thanks to his incredibly motivating and highly informative works.
