Every year, on April 9th, the nation observes Valour Day to pay homage to the extraordinary courage, unwavering determination, and selfless sacrifice displayed by the brave soldiers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). This day holds profound significance as it commemorates the valiant stand taken by two companies of CRPF on April 9th, 1965, at Sardar Post in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, against a meticulously planned assault by the Pakistani Army.

The Battle of Sardar Post stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Indian forces in the face of adversity. Despite being outnumbered and facing a full-fledged brigade attack, the CRPF soldiers exhibited unparalleled bravery and resilience. Their resolute defense thwarted the enemy's advances, inflicting heavy casualties on the opposing forces.

In the heat of the battle, 34 Pakistani soldiers were neutralized, and four were captured alive, underscoring the valor and tactical prowess of the CRPF personnel. Tragically, six bravehearts of the CRPF made the ultimate sacrifice, laying down their lives in the service of the nation. Their supreme sacrifice serves as a reminder of the inherent risks faced by those who stand guard to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the country.

Since its inception, the CRPF has remained at the forefront of safeguarding the nation's interests, confronting various internal and external threats with unwavering resolve. With a total of 2,249 supreme sacrifices made in the line of duty and 2,469 gallantry medals awarded to its personnel, the CRPF has earned a reputation for its steadfast commitment to duty and exemplary service.

The legacy of the Battle of Sardar Post continues to inspire generations of CRPF personnel, instilling in them the values of courage, dedication, and selflessness. As custodians of peace and guardians of the nation, the CRPF remains steadfast in its mission, upholding the golden principles of service and loyalty.

On Valour Day, let us remember and honor the brave souls who laid down their lives for the country, and reaffirm our commitment to supporting and honoring the sacrifices made by our armed forces. Their valor and sacrifice shall forever be etched in the annals of history, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration for generations to come.
