New Delhi: In a bid to compete against the ever-growing popularity of Toyota Innova Crysta and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Renault India has slashed the price of its Lodgy MPV by up to Rs 96000, in order to increase the sales of the year old MPV.

However, the price change has only taken place for the 84bhp variant, while the price for the 108bhp variant remain the same.

The maximum discount available on the Renault Lodgy 83bhp variant is RS 97,000 and is available on the base Std. trim, which is targeted towards commercial fleet and taxi operators.

The RxE 85 now get a discount of Rs 80,000, while the RxL 85 is cheaper by Rs 56,000 and the RxZ 85 by Rs34,000. The discounted prices have come into effect from July 2016.

Ronault has introduced a price cut on the Lodgy MPV ranging between 97,000-34,000 depending on the variant, as part of its five-year celebrations in the country.

The MPV that went on sale in April last year now starts at a price tag of 7.58,831 (ex-showroom Delhi), as against the previous price tag of 8.56 lakh for the base trim.

That said, it is not clear yet if the discounts have been issued for a temporary period or will continue for the remainder of the year.

The discounts though are restricted on the 83bhp variant of the Lodgy, while the 108bhp powered variants remain unaffected.

The discount certainly looks impressive and adds to the value for money quotient of the MPV. In comparison, prices for the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga diesel start at 7.08 lakh while the Honda Mobilio range starts at 8.67 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
