Veteran Gandhian SN Subba Rao, who had been admitted to the Sawai Man Singh government hospital here for a few days, died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday morning. He was 92 years old at the time.

Subba Ra's body was taken from the SMS hospital to the Vinoba Gyan Mandir in Bapu Nagar, where Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra, and other leaders and supporters paid their respects.

Chief Minister  Gehlot, who had a long association with Gandhian leader Subba Rao, expressed deep condolences on his death, saying he used to visit Rajasthan frequently and had recently visited Jaipur. Chief Minister said Subba Rao inspired the youth of the country for decades through his camps. Gehlot too attended several of his camps at a young age. The CM said he is deeply pained at the demise of Subba Rao and it was a personal loss for him.

Gehlot said, the eminent Gandhian ideologue was admitted to the hospital, and he visited him there several times to inquire about his health. According to the CM, he first met Subba Rao when he was 10-12 years old and attended several of his camps in Jodhpur. Many people have been inspired by Gehlot's songs, and he keeps them on his phone as well. "On the way," he added, "I was listening to his songs." He also stated that a platform will be established so that the young generation can be inspired by Subba Rao's personality.
