Chennai,Reunion of children who underwent liver transplant at the Childs Trust Hospital held on saturday in which about 50 of the 200 children invited turned up with their parents for the occasion, which in the words of the chief guest, health secretary J Radhakrishnan, was "disorganised and fun-filled."

Four children, were beneficiaries of the chief minister's comprehensive healthcare scheme.

Dr. Mohamed Zela, CEO of Global City Colonel Hemraj Tarmar, entered the Guinness book of records for supervising the 200 surgeries and also for successfully performing liver transplant on a five-day-old girl.

"This reunion was not to blow my own trumpet. This was solely for the benefit of families of such children who tend to succumb to cliches that kids who undergo transplants can't lead a normal life," said, Dr. Zela.

Health secretary Radhakrishnan said the state was only second to Frankfurt in Germany in cadaver transplant.

He added, "It wouldn't be an understatement to say Tamil Nadu and in particular, Chennai has emerged as the transplant capital of south Asia".

The presence of actor Santhanam , a special invitee, was a treat for the children.
