Report: Andhra Pradesh preparedness for prevailing COVID situation

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on May 17 held a review meeting on prevailing COVID situation. He announced extension of the curfew till May end.

In the state, a total of 75,99,960 vaccine doses have been received from the center, as per the official report. Out of these many 6260400 doses are of Covishield and 339560 are Covaxin. As of the mid-May, the state had been allotted 6,90,360 doses of Covishield vaccines while the state has procured 890360 doses, more than the allotted, they said. They said only 125000 doses of Covaxin are supplied to the state while 227490 doses were alloted. Furthermore, the officials said 590 MT per day oxygen is alloted to the state while the demand including all Government and Private hospitals is 590 MT to 610MT. The state has made a request to Central Government for allotting an oxygen express with 80 MT capacity everyday from Jamnagar. They said eight ISO containers have reached the state while another two yet to come.

The report adds about the basic equipment availability for public include masks and injections. The officials said 7 lakh N-95 masks, 7.5 lakh PPE Kits, 45 lakh surgical masks and 23k Remedsiver injections are available in the state.

Talking about the attendees in the review meeting held by chief minister were Deputy Chief Minister Alla Krishna Srinivas, Chief Secretary Adityanath Das, DGP Goutam Sawang, COVID Command and control chairman Dr KS Jawahar Reddy, Health Principal Secretary Anil Kumar Singhal, COVID taskforce committee chairman MT Krishna Babu, Health Secretary M Ravi Chandra, 104 call center incharge, Arogyasri CEO Dr A Mallikarjuna, APMSIDC VC and MD V Vijayarama Raju, Health Commissioner Katamaneni Bhaskar and other senior officials.
