Amritsar: Since June 2020, three cities of Punjab have seen the biggest jump in corona cases in a single day. In Chandigarh, 1,114 corona cases were registered in 24 hours, while a total of 2,822 cases were registered in Mohali and Panchkula districts. As the cases of corona are seeing an increase, the demand for testing in the labs of the city hospitals has increased and the reports are getting delayed by 24 to 36 hours.

The city has two hospital laboratories including GMCH 32 and PGI. On an average GMCH can test 2000 patients, while the daily testing capacity of PGI Lab is 2500. Dr Jasbinder Kaur, Director, GMCH 32, while talking to the media today said that the lab capacity of our hospital is to process 2000 tests, but there are some technical glitches, so it is taking time to upload the test reports.

He said that we are trying to remove the disturbances and increasing the capacity of investigation, we are doing 2500 daily. Whereas PGI's nodal officer Dr Mini Singh said that health workers and doctors have been found corona infected in the last few weeks. So it has put more work load on us, but we are working 24 hours to give all the reports on time.
