Republic Day: 14 Assam police officers will receive the President's Medal

Hiren Chandra Nath, Assam Police's Additional Director General of Police (SB), has been awarded with the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Apart from Nath, the Police Medal for Meritorious Service has been awarded to 13 other personnel.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Assam Police Special Director General of Police (DGP) of Law and Order, GP Singh, on Tuesday congratulated these officers. ''Congratulations to all @assampolice personnel who have been awarded Presidents Police Medal for Distinguished Services and Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Services. @mygovassam,'' he tweeted.

 

 

On Republic Day eve 2022, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced 939 police medals.  including 189 Police Medals for Gallantry (PMG), 88 President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM), and 662 Police Medals for Meritorious Service (PM).

Jammu and Kashmir police, on the other hand awarded to 115 of the 189 Police Medals for Gallantry awarded this year (60 percent). The CRPF receives 30 gallantry medals, the ITBP and SSB each receive three, while the BSF gets two.
