The first captain of the Indian cricket team, CK Nayudu arrived in Indore in 1923 at the invitation of Holkar Raja. His full name was Colonel Kotteri Kanakaiah Naidu. The king of Holkar gave him the rank of colonel in his army. He scored 350 runs in 14 innings of seven Test matches. Master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar, one of the world's greatest batsmen, is part of the Indian Air Force. Sachin is a Group Captain in the Indian Air Force. He is the first cricketer to receive this honor. Sachin has also flown the Sukhoi aircraft of the Air Force. Sachin is the face of Air Force for the youth of the country. Recently he was seen attending the 83rd Air Force Day celebrations in Hindon.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who made Team India the world champion for the second time, is included in the Indian Territorial Army. Dhoni has been conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He has got this rank in the parachute regiment of the Indian Army. He has also trained for two weeks in a para-regiment in Agra.
