On Republic Day, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan unfurled the national flag in the state capital of Thiruvananthapuram. Today, India celebrates its 73rd Republic Day.

On the Rajpath, as it is every year in the national capital Delhi, a glimpse of the country's power and culture will be shown. This event will be attended by President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and other dignitaries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the National War Memorial to pay tribute to the troops who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the country. The PM will be accompanied by the Defense Minister, Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defense, Ajay Bhatt, Defense Secretary, Ajay Kumar, and the Chiefs of the Army's three wings, namely the Army, Air Force, and Navy. The procession at Rajpath will begin at 10:30 a.m., rather than 10 a.m., to provide for greater visibility of the march and flypast.

This year's celebrations are more significant because Republic Day coincides on the 75th anniversary of the country's independence, and it is being commemorated as 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' across the country. The Ministry of Defence has planned a variety of new events for the main parade on Rajpath on January 26 and the 'Beating the Retreat' celebration at Vijay Chowk on January 29 to commemorate the anniversary.
