Republic Day violence: Delhi Police files chargesheet, 500 policemen injured

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday filed its chargesheet in connection with the violence that erupted during a farmers' tractor rally on the occasion of Republic Day in the national capital on January 26. 38 cases have been registered against various persons in the violence in Delhi. Delhi Police alleged that during the farmers' tractor rally, the protesters allegedly did not follow the pre-determined route and broke the barricades to enter Delhi.

The protesters attacked the police and ransacked several parts of Delhi. He then entered the Red Fort and uprooted the flag from the ramparts, of which Deep Sidhu is the main accused. It may be recalled that on January 26, thousands of protesting farmers broke into the country's capital after breaking the barriers and clashed with police personnel at other places including The ITO.

Many protesters drove tractors to the Red Fort and entered the historic monument and put a religious flag on its ramparts. More than 500 policemen were injured in the violence, while one protester was killed.
