Betul: An 8-year-old boy died after falling into a borewell in Betul, Madhya Pradesh. Tanmay was pulled out of the borewell at 6 am on Saturday after an 84-hour-long rescue operation. The medical team present on the spot declared Tanmay dead after an examination. Public Relations Officer SK Tiwari confirmed the death. After the death of the son, there is chaos in the family. Now the post-mortem of the body is being done. The body will then be handed over to the family.

Let me tell you that at 5 pm on Tuesday, 8-year-old Tanmay fell into a 400-ft deep borewell while playing hide and seek with friends. Since the incident, more than 250 people including NDRF, SDERF, police, administration, health department, and PHE department were engaged in rescue work in Mandvi village. The 400-ft-deep borewell was on the farm of a farmer named Nanak Chauhan. The borewell was closed for two years. When Tanmay fell into it, he was trapped at a depth of 55 feet. During the rescue, an attempt was made to remove Tanmay from the rope, but after coming up, the attempt was unsuccessful and Tanmay was stuck at a depth of 38 feet.

After receiving the news of the incident, digging the same pit was started at a distance of about 30 feet from the borewell for rescue. Initially, 46 feet of excavation was followed by 10 feet of horizontal excavation. However, due to excavation, the rescue was repeatedly hampered due to water and hard rocks. Every time the operation was started again after crossing the stairs, Tanmay could not be saved in the end. After the incident, the rescue team, including top officials of the police and administration, was also standing on the spot. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also in constant touch with the officers.
