BENGALURU: The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has expressed gratitude to Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for lifting the weekend curfew and listening to the restaurant industry's concerns.

Mukesh Tolani, the Bengaluru Chapter Head of the NRAI, said: "I congratulate Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai on behalf of the industry for lifting the weekend curfew in Bengaluru. Thank you very much for patiently listening to our issues, understanding them, and assuring us that they will be addressed shortly. The easing of the weekend curfew is a ray of optimism for us, and the industry can undoubtedly expect for a more balanced approach to curfews in the future." He went on to say that during a meeting with the CM, they expressed concern that they were fighting a losing struggle for survival, and that only government policy and monetary support could help them survive the pandemic.

On Friday, officials from the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) and the Craft Brewers Association of India met with the Chief Minister to voice the concerns of the hospitality industry over the weekend curfew, taxes, licencing, and ease of doing business.

Despite the increasing number of Covid in the state, particularly in Bengaluru, the administration lifted the weekend ban on Friday.
