New Delhi: After the removal of Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, all the restrictions imposed there are being heavily criticised. The Opposition is calling it a dictatorship of the Government. A petition in the case was filed in the SC. Now, a senior official of the Government has defended it. The official said the restrictions were made to maintain peace and order in the region and prevent violent acts. According to him, the ban on movement and communication of people will be relaxed in a phased manner and the ban will be lifted only after the local administration assesses it.

He further said that after assessing the situation on the ground, other leaders including former Chief Ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti will be released.
