Corona continues to wreak havoc in Madhya Pradesh's economic capital. The district administration in Indore has had to withdraw the ban imposed on handkerchiefs as a means of protection from Covid-19 after the objections of people. Indore is among the districts most affected by the coronavirus in the country, where different activities are increasing due to the continuous relaxation of lockdown. Crowd of people have started gathering in public places.

On Saturday, officials said that the District Magistrate Manish Singh had said in the order issued on Friday night, "It will be obligatory for all persons within the boundaries of the district to necessarily wear surgical masks outside their house. It will be prohibited and will not be included in the category of masks. He further stated that this order was issued under the Pandemic Diseases Act 1897 and National Disaster Management Act 2005 to take measures to protect common people from Covid-19.

BJP MP from Indore Lok Sabha constituency Shankar Lalwani told the media that on getting the information about this order, he approached the district administration and requested to change it in the public interest. He said, "The handkerchiefs is accessible and convenient for most people and can also be used to protect against Covid-19. Many people are already using it to avoid the heat during summer." Questions were also raised on social media about this order of the administration, saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is using it. After the objections, the District Magistrate has changed the old order, removing the ban on handkerchiefs as a means of protection from Covid-19. The revised order of the District Magistrate states that people will now be able to use different types of masks on their mouths as well as swabs and two-layer handkerchiefs when they get out of their house. The District Magistrate has also made a provision in his order that a fine of Rs 100 will be levied on the person who does not use the means of covering his/her face when he/she gets out of the house.
