Retail inflation for farm and rural employees rose to 6.60 and 6.82 percent in July, respectively, primarily as a result of increasing food prices. Farm and rural employees experienced retail inflation in June of 6.43 percent and 6.76 percent, respectively.
According to a statement from the labour ministry, the consumer price index for agricultural labourers (CPI-AL) and rural labourers (CPI-RL) showed point-to-point inflation rates of 6.60 percent and 6.82 percent, respectively, in July 2022, up from 6.43 percent and 6.76 percent in June 2022 and 3.92 percent and 4.09 percent, respectively, in the corresponding month (July 2021), respectively.
In a similar vein, it was reported that food inflation was 5.38 percent and 5.44 percent in July 2022, respectively, compared to 5.09 percent and 5.16 percent in June 2022 and 2.66 percent and 2.74 percent in the corresponding month of the previous year.
Agricultural and rural labourers' respective All-India Consumer Price Index Numbers for July 2022 climbed by 6 points each to 1131 and 1143 points, respectively.
The increase in the prices of rice, wheat-atta, bajra, pulses, milk, fresh fish, onions, green and dried chillies, ginger, mixed spices, vegetables and fruits, ready-made tea, etc. contributed significantly to the rise in the general index of agricultural labourers and rural labourers, which increased by 4.41 and 4.07 points, respectively.
The index increased differently in each state. In 20 States, there was a rise of 1 to 13 points for Agricultural Laborers. The index table showed that Tamil Nadu had 1301 points, while Himachal Pradesh had 890 points.
