Retail petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged across major cities of the country

New Delhi: On Wednesday (April 3), it is welcome news that state-run oil marketing companies kept the retail petrol and diesel prices unchanged for a second day across major cities of the country. In national capital Delhi, petrol is being sold for Rs 72.86 per litre while diesel costs Rs 66.09 a litre, no change compared with yesterday’s price. Worth mentioning here is that petrol, diesel prices were reduced by 5 paise and 10 paise respectively across metropolitan cities of the country on Monday. The prices of fuel remained stagnant in Delhi on Monday.

While in turn of all major cities prices, in Chennai, petrol and diesel are selling for Rs 75.62 a litre and Rs 69.78 per litre, as per data available with Indian Oil Corp website. Similarly, petrol is retailing at Rs 78.43 per litre and diesel can be availed at Rs 69.17 a litre in Mumbai, no change in price as against Tuesday’s rates. People in Kolkata have to pay Rs 74.88 for a litre of petrol while diesel retailed at Rs 67.83 per litre. In Noida also, petrol price remained stable at Rs 72.20 and diesel price at Rs 65.21.  In Gurugram, petrol, diesel prices remained unchanged at Rs 72.74 and Rs 65.32 respectively.

Here it may be noted that the prices of fuel in Delhi are the cheapest among all metros and most state capitals due to lower taxes. On Wednesday, in the international oil market, crude prices went higher for the fourth consecutive day amid supply cuts by OPEC and US curbs against exporters Venezuela and Iran. International Brent crude oil futures were trading at USD 69.59 per barrel, up 22 cents, or 0.3 per cent, from their last close.
