Retail petrol prices stagnant while diesel prices remained unchanged…rates inside

New Delhi: On Wednesday (March 13), State-run oil marketing companies kept retail petrol prices stagnant while diesel prices also remained unchanged across the major cities. In national capital Delhi, a litre of petrol costs Rs 72.41 while diesel is retailing at Rs 67.37 a litre, no change compared with Tuesday’s price. It is worth noting that the retail petrol, diesel prices were slashed on Tuesday and petrol became cheaper by 5 paise across major cities of the country while diesel prices dropped by 7 paise per litre.

In Metro cities prices are as, in Kolkata, citizens have to pay Rs 74.49 for a litre of petrol while diesel costs Rs 69.16 per litre, as per data available with Indian Oil Corp website. Similarly, in Chennai, petrol costs Rs 75.20 per litre and diesel costs Rs 71.20 per litre, no change in prices compared with yesterday’s rates. In Mumbai, petrol is retailing at Rs 78.04 per litre and diesel can be availed at Rs 70.58 a litre, no rate revision as against Tuesday’s price. In Noida also, petrol price remained unchanged at Rs 71.88 and diesel price stood at Rs 66.35. In Gurugram, petrol, diesel prices remained stable at Rs 72.42 and Rs 66.45 respectively.

It is worth mentioning here is that due to the daily dynamic pricing regime, retail fuel prices depend on global crude prices on a 15-day average, and the rupee-US dollar exchange rate as the country imports 80 per cent of its crude requirements.

However, in the international oil market, crude prices went up amid cuts to Saudi exports and a lowered forecast for US crude output. International Brent crude futures were at trading USD 66.93 per barrel, up 26 cents, or 0.4 per cent, from their last close. Brent peaked to USD 67.39 a barrel on Monday, its highest since February 25.
