Bangalore: JDS MLA A H Vishwanath, who is among the rebel MLAs in Karnataka, has announced his retirement from politics. He was also the former Karnataka state president of the Janata Dal (Secular). The Speaker, K R Ramesh Kumar, had recently termed him as unknowable for not accepting the party whip. Mr. Vishwanath told the media here that the rebel MLAs were not responsible for the collapse of the previous JD(S)-Congress coalition government of the state and neither the BJP nor the BJP fell due to differences between the leaders of the coalition parties.

The JDS leader said that due to the derogatory behaviour of party leaders, he resigned as state president as well as MLA. Other MLAs also resigned for the same reasons. He said that no MLA was sold in the hands of the BJP nor had any 'Operation Lotus'. Refuting former minister Mahesh's allegations of selling Rs 28 crore to BJP, Mr Vishwanath said, "I quit the Congress party because of Siddaramaiah.

Siddaramaiah used to sideline me wherever I was. He accused Siddaramaiah of being greedy for power and said that Rahul Gandhi has resigned as Congress President over the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, while Siddaramaiah does not consider it necessary to discuss the reasons for the defeat. The Congress-JDS government in Karnataka collapsed after the Lok Sabha election result.
