Freedom 251, the world's cheapest smartphone, will be delivered on June 30, promises Ringing Bells. Here's a look at what has happened so far. If you are one of the lucky ones who were able to order the Freedom 251 mobile phone from the Noida based smartphone company Ringing Bells, there are now hopes that you might just receive your 251 rupees android smartphone. Mohit Goel, the Managing Director of Ringing Bells told the Press Trust of India –

“We will start shipment of Freedom 251 from June 28 to customers who paid for it earlier on COD (cash-on-delivery) basis,”..

The firm had previously come under scrutiny by the Indian government, forcing them to withdraw the product from sale and refund customers while investigations continued over alleged copyright violations and lack of appropriate legal documents from the country’s telecoms regulator.

“We will have a loss, but I am happy that the dream of connecting rural and poor Indians as part of the ‘Digital India’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives has been fulfilled with ‘Freedom 251′,” Goel said.

Specification and Features

# The smartphone will run on Android Lollipop 5.1 Operating System which will run most of the apps supported by latest gadgets.

 # Freedom 251 will be powered by 1.3 Ghz quadcore processor, which is more than befitting for the phone if it is priced at such a low price.

# It supports 3G internet speed. Many of the aspirants of Freedom 251 were skeptical. There were doubts that the phone would be supporting basic 2G internet.

# The screen size is expected to be around 5-inch long.

# Internal RAM of the phone is expected to be 1GB.

# Internal memory of the smartphone is 8 GB which could be expanded upto 32 GB through microSD card.

# Camera is expected to be modest. A 3.2 megapixel will be provided for the rear end, whereas, the front camera will be 0.3 megapixel.

# The phone will be powered by 1,450 mAh battery which would be sufficient enough for the phone to last 14-16 hours.

# The smartphone will be pre-loaded with popular apps including Google Play, WhatsApp, Facebook and Youtube.

#Despite the low price, manufacturing firm is providing buyers with one year warranty period. Ringing Bells’ has 650 service centres spread across the nation.
