New Delhi: Team India's young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant continues his journey to the cricket world. He has been handed the captaincy of Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League 2021 (IPL). In fact, Delhi Capitals regular captain Shreyas Iyer has crashed out of the entire tournament due to a shoulder injury. Delhi's captaincy has now been handed over to Rishabh Pant.
Shreyas Iyer's reaction to Rishabh Pant being handed over the Delhi capital captaincy has come to the fore and has also described the young player as the best for the post. Rishabh Pant was not considered as a captain's contender in front of Ravichandran Ashwin, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, and Steve Smith in DC after Shreyas Iyer was injured. However, after becoming captain, Rishabh Pant said that his dream was fulfilled, he always wanted to be the captain of the team.
Shreyas Iyer said, "When I was suffering from a shoulder injury and Delhi Capitals needed a captain for this edition of IPL. I had no doubt that Rishabh Pant would be the best for this post. My best wishes for doing amazing things also our entire incredible team is with him. I am going to miss the team badly and will cheer my team throughout the IPL."
