After creating history by winning maiden test series against Australia on their own land, India lost its first ODI by 34 runs. On this loss, Former England skipper Michael Vaughan said that young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant should be part of the Indian ODI squad even if he features in the playing XI solely as a batsman.

 Vaughan statement came just moments after India's defeat by 34-run l in the first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday. Vaughan took to Twitter and wrote,” Without question @RishabPant777 has to be in this Indian ODI team .. !! #AUSvIND .. Even if he plays just as a Batsman.” With the defeat, India trail 0-1 in the three-match series.

Talking about the match, with the help of  three fifty-plus knocks from the Aussie middle-order that took their total to 288 for five at the end of 50 overs. The Indian top order failed to score huge as Shikhar Dhawan and Ambati Rayudu for a duck.  Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni did manage to breathe some life into India's faltering start with a patient 137-run partnership before theDhoni was wrongly adjudged lbw. Sharma failed to find support from the other end as Australia folded India 34 runs short of their target.
