Patna: Lt Rishi Kumar, a resident of Begusarai in Bihar, was martyred in Jammu and Kashmir on October 30, Saturday. Rishi Kumar was martyred in an explosion in the Nowshera Sundarbans sector of Rajouri near the line of control (LOC). As soon as the news of Rishi Kumar's martyrdom was sent to Begusarai, not only the entire village but the entire district was mourning over the passing away of their brave son.

Where it is learnt that the martyred Lieutenant Rishi Kumar was going to get married soon in his house. The date for his sister's wedding was fixed for November 29. And all the preparations in the house were being made fast. That's how Lieutenant Rishi was also supposed to return home on November 22. Rishi Kumar, who was scheduled to come to his sister's wedding on November 22, had already arrived but was wrapped in the tricolour leaving them forever.

According to information received so far, the company commander informed Rishi Kumar's father over the phone at 7.30 pm about the martyrdom of Lt Rishi Kumar. Lt Rishi Kumar was the only son of his house. He has two sisters. The younger sister was to get married on November 29. Just 4 days ago, Rishi spoke to his mother and talked about the preparations for the wedding.

Joined the army a year ago: Rishi Kumar was the son of Rajiv Ranjan, a resident of Professor Colony, Begusarai district headquarters. A washer: Rishi had already started his career with the army. He was originally from Piparia village in the Lakhisarai district. Several decades ago, Rajiv Ranjan's family had been living in Pipra Road near JD College. Rishi's grandfather was employed at the refinery. After which the family settled here.

Where it is learnt that the mortal remains of the martyred lieutenant reached Begusarai yesterday, 31st October by noon. Local MP and Union Minister Giriraj Singh, leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav and other leaders have paid homage to Rishi Kumar, who sacrificed his life supremely while keeping the country's border. Not only that, the funeral of Rishi was completed on the holy bank of Simaria Ganga bank of Begusarai with state honours. Meanwhile, people's representatives and officials including Union Minister Giriraj Singh were present. Army and Begusarai police gave 21 gun salutes. Earlier, a 20 km final journey from Begusarai to Simaria Ganga Ghat was taken out.
