Young Batsman Rishabh Pant is delivering phenomenal peroformances and impressed the fans. However, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not selected the Pant in the squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup. Witnessing Pant's heroics for Delhi Capitals (DC) against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor   raised a question over the wicket-keeper's absence from the WC squad.

Kapoor had asked on Twitter tagging skipper Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri, questioning the two thinktanks over the youngster's absence. He Tweeted, “Why is Rishabh Pant not in the squad for the World Cup? You there? @RaviShastriOfc @imVkohli,”

Pant was snubbed in favour of Dinesh Karthik as the selection committee favoured experience over raw talent for the showpiece event. Explaining the reason behind Pant's absence from the 15-man World Cup roster, selection committee chief MSK Prasad termed Karthik's wicket-keeping skills as the primary reason behind his inclusion.

Prasad said that “You can say that… The situation that was discussed among the selection committee is that one of them will play in the eleven only if MS (Dhoni) is injured.” He further added, “ Under such situation, in crunch matches, who is the best guy who can handle the pressure. That is the reason which went in favour of Karthik, otherwise, Pant is full of talent, there is lot of time for him,”

Howevr, Rishabh has been named among the reserves for the World Cup.
