Ryan Grantham, who starred in the television series Riverdale and the movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid, was given a life sentence after confessing to killing his mother in March 2020. At the sentencing hearing on September 20, the court reportedly also imposed a lifetime handgun prohibition on Grantham. Grantham admitted guilt to the second-degree murder allegation brought against him, according to CBC News.
According to CBS News, Ryan admitted to shooting Barbara Waite, his mother, once in the head while she was practising the piano. The British Columbia Supreme Court in Vancouver announced the decision. Grantham is well-known for his role as Jeffrey in the Riverdale episode where he accidentally murders Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) in a hit-and-run. In addition, he appeared in Falling Skies, iZombie, and Supernatural.
Ryan's potential plots to assassinate Justin Trudeau, the prime minister of Canada, were first mentioned when Grantham's sentence proceedings got underway. Grantham had plans to murder Trudeau, which were made known in both a statement to the police and passages from his personal journal, as was reported by Complex Canada at the time.
Grantham ultimately confessed to second-degree murder earlier this year after previously facing first-degree murder charges. Additionally, films that Grantham recorded throughout the incident, including one in which he admitted to the murder, were included in the evidence that was produced in court. Additionally, it was claimed that Grantham had thought about carrying out mass murder, possibly at his college at Simon Fraser University. Lisa Grantham, Grantham's sister, said in court testimony that her brother is a dangerous individual.
